IBJJF Zadar Open:Kristof Szucs 1rst Place Purple & Damir Salina 2nd Place Black Belt Absolute

Eastern Europe’s first ever IBJJF competition was last weekend’s Zadar International Open in Croatia.

The competition was a success with team’s from all over Europe and even some Brazilians and Americans competing.

Gracie Barra Hungary’s Kristof Szucs won the purple belt absolute, beating Slovenia’s Miha Perhavec in te final. Szuc had won the worlds at blue belt absolute in June.

In the black belt adult divisions, there was only one match in the weight classes with Brazil’s Samuel Hertzog beating the Uk’s Oliver Geddes by one advantage.

In the black belt absolute 1/4 final Samuel Hertzog defeated Thomas Oyarzun by 2 advantages in a 50/50 guard battle.

Croatia’s Damir Salina deafeated Oliver Guedes by 10-2 and booked his place in the final.

In the 2nd semi final,  Antonio Henrique Junior of Roger Gracie London submitted Hertzog with a straight footlock.

In the final, Salina and Junior had a back and forth battle but Junior ended up tapping Salina with a kneebar.
