This weekend, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will measure forces at UFC 182, which takes place on the 3rd of January in Las Vegas.
World Jiu-Jitsu champion Marcus Buchecha believes that Cormier has the grappling edge. Cormier is a BJJ brown belt under Leandro Vieira of Checkmat.
Undefeated in his MMA career, Cormier is a former Olympic wrestler and former Strikeforce champion.
In an interview with SportTV GLOBO, Marcus Buchecha , said that not only is Cormier a world class wrestler, he is impressive on the ground.
The Brazilian spent a few days with Cormier, helping to sharpen his ground game for Jones:
“DC” and me were there studying some things that could be done in his fight against Jones. If, by chance, he happens to fall below in a bad situation, we were working more jiu-jitsu for this type of situation and facing the opponent. We worked hard on these attacks, defenses and such. His jujitsu has improved a lot, especially the defense.”
“He is for sure prepared. He is very dangerous on the ground. We trained hard on this fight and I could monitor Cormier. Whenever I can, I am there at AKA. Daniel is pretty smart, with a solid Jiu-Jitsu. I think he will surprise Jon Jones.”
